Everything about this order was easy. The customer service team was wonderful and made sure my order arrived on time.
I've been really happy with my RushOrderTees orders. The quality has been excellent, and the service has been great. This is now my first choice for any future orders.
Second time I have ordered and had the recipient of the gift tell me they loved the shirt and design. Easy to design, order and work with customer service.
Step One: Artwork Prep
The DTG process begins with your artwork. High-resolution digital designs (ideally 300 DPI or higher) are uploaded in formats like PNG or vector files. The image is then processed through RIP (Raster Image Processing) software, which converts it into a printable format.
Pro Tip - RGB color profiles work best for DTG since the printers are optimized for bright, digital color rendering.
Step Two: Pre-Treat Garment
Before printing, garments (especially darker ones) are pretreated with a special liquid solution. This pretreatment creates a smooth, even surface by flattening fibers, helps white ink adhere properly and prevents color bleed and enhances vibrancy for multicolor designs.
Step Three: Printing The Design
The DTG printer uses specialized print heads that spray micro-droplets of water-based pigment ink directly into the fibers. This is where DTG shines - it can reproduce high-resolution artwork, complex color blends, and even photos with impressive clarity.
Step Four: Heating & Curing
After printing, the wet ink must be cured to make it permanent. This helps the inks to bond with the cotton fibers, locking in color and durability. Proper curing ensures the design won’t fade, crack or peel immediately after the first wash.
In our experience, Direct to Garment is the best option in several circumstances. Smaller order sizes make it more cost-effective, while DTG excels when printing designs with many colors or complex images. For more information, check out our Help Center article: Screen Printing vs. Direct to Garment.
100% cotton is ideal for DTG printing as the smooth surface allows for precise ink absorption, resulting in vibrant colors and soft prints. Cotton/poly blends print slightly less vibrantly due to the polyester content and tri-blends offer a super soft feel but produce a slightly faded, “lived in” print. We advise against polyester and heavily textured fabrics as these result in ink inconsistencies.
No, DTG can only be used on certain types of apparel. Screen printing, laser etching and other techniques are better suited for customizing promotional products.
Our DTG-printed apparel can be produced and shipped quickly. With rush shipping, we can deliver custom-printed tees as quickly as 2 business days and 6 days using our, free standard shipping option.
