Our customers are amazing. We say it a lot (and mean it), but our Hurricane Relief fund only reinforced that belief.
Last Wednesday we announced a one-day campaign to help the people and communities affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. In less than 24 hours, we experienced your wonderful support. Customers nationwide emailed and called about our efforts. Many were excited, some were incredibly motivated, and a couple were skeptical. But you did it. Together we raised $10,811.
We are donating this money to help the American Red Cross continue its response to recovery in Texas, Florida, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia.
RushOrderTees.com has been giving back since our 2002 founding. This is the first time, though, that we did charitable work on this scale. It was beyond rewarding. It was powerful and impactful. The stories that you shared continue to amaze us.
Before our fund launched, customers asked us about doing something for the relief and recovery efforts in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Many reached out with fundraising suggestions, and ideas like shirt campaigns and clothing donation drives were plentiful. And great.
While we ultimately decided to do something bigger. Some of our customers are doing their own part to help.
World Housing Solution makes pods called Rapidly Deployable Solutions (RDS) for humanitarian and military use. These temporary structures are easily and quickly shipped around the world. And they’re efficient: they don’t need electricity (these specific relief pods run on solar power) and can be set up within twenty minutes. When World Housing Solution reached out to us, they were already relocating their pods used by emergency services in Houston back to Florida where they’re headquartered. They are continuing with recovery efforts in their home state. We’re impressed. Their speed and advocacy makes for a great partner.
All hands on deck
Glennwood Housing Foundation is a remarkable organization. This California non-profit helps young adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Their unique mission emphasizes community building in a residential setting. Glennwood members take part in service projects both around their Laguna Beach setting and across the country. In a deeply personal reaction to the aid efforts, they’re hand painting custom t-shirts and sending them to the recovery areas. We’re thrilled to participate in this exceptional program.
Help is still needed
Our thoughts are still with the people and communities affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Our job is not done.
You can still donate directly to the American Red Cross too.
Again, we appreciate your feedback, contributions, and help. Your overwhelming support has made a difference.
